About the Foundation

The Maglan Friends Foundation (a registered nonprofit organization) was established on November 24, 2006, by the alumni of the Maglan Commando Unit. Since its founding, the Foundation has served as a warm home for its alumni – combat soldiers and combat support personnel, whether in active duty, in career service, reserve service, or as veterans.
The Foundation’s mission is to foster a cohesive, active and supportive community that equips its members with the tools to integrate, lead and contribute to Israeli society. All is done while preserving the core values and heritage of the Maglan Unit. The foundation also supports the Unit’s alumni and their families, in both everyday challenges and major life transitions.

Our activities focus on seven main vectors, as follows:
Promoting social mobility among youth in the periphery by encouraging meaningful service in the IDF
Processing combat experiences and strengthening personal resilience
Collaborating with the active-duty Unit
Promoting Maglan alumni
Maintaining a support program for the wounded soldiers
Supporting via the bereaved family program
Remembrance and legacy.

The Foundation advances its mission through the efforts of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, students and professionals from a wide range of fields.
We also collaborate with leading companies, organizations and nonprofit organizations from Israel and abroad, sharing their knowledge, resources and innovative ideas. The Foundation maintains strategic partnerships with the IDF, Mifal HaPais (Israel’s national lottery) and municipalities, helping to promote social mobility for youth from the periphery.
